New Shapes and New Shades

2020 has been quite a strange year with so much of daily life curtailed, but one thing that hasn’t halted is the development of new wall and floor tiles at Claybrook. Our passion for introducing new ranges is a direct result of our love for designing spaces that feel fresh and decorative. Colour and pattern can add a new dimension to bathrooms and kitchens, particularly if they run the risk of lacking the same curated approach to interior decoration as other parts of the home. The same ethos applies when looking at the redesign of hotel rooms, offices and hospitality spaces. These too can either be forgettable spaces in which to pass time or somewhere that adds joy and lifts the spirits. We know which we prefer.

In this vein we have been working on some fabulous new tile ranges which share both a flair for being beautiful but are also wholly practical for busy rooms.

Trousdale Presley

Trousdale is porcelain in six colourways that closely replicates traditional Terrazzo, a material originating in Venice on floors and pavements and still widely seen in Northern Italy. It mixes as well with pale tones like cream and white as it can alongside stronger hues for rooms that demand a little drama. Another new range of porcelain is Vintage Vibes, and boy did we have fun naming the patterns. As it reminded us so much of wallpaper seen in the homes of the 1970’s we called each one after tv favourites of the time. Shades of tan, brown and mellow yellow predominate in a collection with decidedly retro DNA.

Vintage Vibes Mildred

Fantastic shapes are a feature of two other new ranges. Zeze Mosaics are a stunning collection of glazed porcelain mosaics inspired by Japanese pottery glazes. In a linear format they feel streamlined and architectural and can even be tiled onto curved surfaces. Bermuda Triangles meanwhile are Spanish tiles in vibrant shades named with a wry smile; we couldn’t resist a little nod to the catchy song from 1981. The red is a favourite at Claybrook HQ, used with bush pink or olive green it feels very 2020. Used with some black accessories it would feel very 1983, but maybe the 2020 look is preferable.

Zeze Mosaics

We’ve also added new colours to key collections. The hexagon shaped porcelain range Hayek Hex just got peachy with a new hue, whilst Xanadu fan-shaped mosaics have a terracotta shade that feels just perfect. Both of these were added with the view that some colour schemes seem to have gone from grey and moody to a more upbeat sense of fun and warmth. Try pairing browns with peaches, or pinks with yellows for a sunny and pretty feel.
