The beauty and practicality of wood as a use for flooring has long been recognized. It was in the 17th century though that panels were designed for Versailles to replace marble as the practical floor of choice. Over the centuries the allure of this tactile and warm material, as planks or block parquet, has never really waned. In the UK it is synonymous with chic interiors, from industrial styled apartments to arts and crafts inspired suburban homes, through to country houses of distinction.
The team at Claybrook HQ spent months investigating where to source our wood for both the best quality and an ecologically managed source. Some of our competitors make quite a bit of noise about the low price of their wood, something we cannot dispute; but do you really want to buy wood from forests that are not managed or replanted? Price should not be what you pay on the day but the value reeped over time, both from the enjoyment of the physical product and the knowledge that one has not damaged our fragile eco system.
With this value equation in mind, our distinctive European engineered wood flooring is sourced from sustainable forests and is PEFC* accredited. This ensures that not only are you buying beauty, but your conscience can also be clearer. Offering striking design at an accessible price is at the core of the Claybrook ethos; accordingly, our beautiful series of floors, available in both plank and parquet formats, is indeed the great value our clients demand, as well as irresistibly smart.
The current range is available in five stunning shades for use specifically in the UK based on our knowledge of the most popular interior styles, and includes a fantastic smoked option.
Habitation Nordic Cottage Parquet
Nordic Cottage has a pale washed appearance redolent of Scandinavian homes whilst Cotswold Manor is perfect for older British homes to add charm and a little warmth. Our launch collection, named Habitation, is brushed and oiled to give a slightly textured surface. This will be followed over coming months with more stunning ranges for both homeowners and for the architect and designer market.
*PEFC is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification. PEFC works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest and to ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are produced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards. PEFC’s distinctive ‘green trees’ logo make it a truly global brand and means customers and consumers are able to identify products from sustainably managed forests.
